An employee had just completed airing up a tire and walked over to the tool table to retrieve the valve stem cap. When the employee returned to the tire and was screwing the valve stem cap on, the tire suddenly depressurized causing the tire and rim to strike the employee. The employee suffered multiple fractures to the face, chest and ribs, a head laceration and a broken elbow.
